Charts: insert, edit data and change the type

Insert bar, line, pie and other charts, edit their data, drag values on the slide, or make a chart from Excel or CSV.

Charts stay charts: you change their values, labels and kind at any time, and in PowerPoint they are native charts with their data.

Steps

  1. 1Open Insert → Charts and tables and click a kind: Bar, Line, Pie, Donut and more.
  2. 2Click Edit data, or double-click the chart, to open the Data tab with its values.
  3. 3Change a number, add rows with Add row, or drag the end of a bar right on the slide.
  4. 4Change chart type switches the kind, or turns the chart into a table.
  5. 5To use your own figures, click Upload Data in Insert: an Excel or CSV file, or a picture of a chart or table.

Credits: A data file the AI has to read costs 1 credit; a spreadsheet whose cells already form the table costs nothing.

Good to know

  • Show values writes the numbers onto the chart.
  • Click a part of a chart to give it its own colour.
  • You can also ask in the prompt: "add a chart of these figures".
